Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter
- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (60g) cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips or chunks (semi-sweet or dark)
Optional add-ins:
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, etc.)
- 1/2 cup dried fruits (cherries, cranberries, etc.)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch (23x33 cm) baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a microwave-safe bowl or on the stove, melt the butter completely. Allow it to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt until evenly combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until there are no more visible streaks of flour. Avoid over-mixing, as it can result in tough brownies.
- If you're adding nuts and dried fruits, gently fold them into the batter at this point.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips or chunks over the top of the batter, pressing them down slightly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Be careful not to over-bake as the brownies can dry out.
- Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes.
- Once slightly cooled, you can lift the brownies out of the pan using the parchment paper and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting.
- Once fully cooled, cut into squares and enjoy your ultimate chocolate brownies!
These brownies are rich, fudgy, and absolutely delightful. Feel free to customize the recipe with your favorite mix-ins or serve them with a scoop of ice cream for an even more indulgent treat!
