Here's a recipe for Shahi Tukda, a delicious Indian dessert:

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of bread (white or whole wheat)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • A pinch of saffron strands (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
  • Slivered almonds and pistachios for garnishing
  • Rose petals (optional) for garnishing

For the sugar syrup:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • A few saffron strands

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, add water and sugar for the sugar syrup. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Add saffron strands and simmer for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

  2. In another saucepan, heat milk over medium heat. Add condensed milk and sugar, and stir well until the sugar dissolves completely. Add cardamom powder and saffron strands (if using). Simmer the milk mixture for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens slightly. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  3. Cut the bread slices into desired shapes, such as triangles or rectangles.

  4. In a frying pan, heat ghee over medium heat. Fry the bread slices until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides. Remove from the pan and drain excess ghee on a paper towel.

  5. Dip the fried bread slices into the prepared sugar syrup, allowing them to soak for a few seconds on each side. Remove the slices from the syrup and place them on a serving plate.

  6. Pour the prepared thickened milk mixture over the soaked bread slices. Make sure the bread is completely covered with the milk mixture.

  7. Garnish with slivered almonds, pistachios, and rose petals (if desired). You can also sprinkle some extra cardamom powder on top.

  8. Refrigerate the Shahi Tukda for at least 1-2 hours to allow the flavors to meld together and the bread to absorb the milk mixture.

  9. Serve chilled and enjoy the rich and creamy Shahi Tukda!

Note: You can adjust the sweetness according to your taste preference by adding more or less sugar or condensed milk to the milk mixture. Also, feel free to add other garnishes such as chopped cashews or raisins for added texture and flavor.
