Here's a simple and delicious recipe for baked potato with cheese:


 Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (you can use any cheese of your choice)
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, chopped green onions, cooked bacon bits, etc.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. Pat them dry with a paper towel.

  3. Poke each potato several times with a fork or knife. This allows steam to escape while baking.

  4. Rub the potatoes with olive oil and sprinkle them with salt and pepper.

  5. Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. The foil makes for easier cleanup.

  6. Bake the potatoes in the preheated oven for about 45 to 60 minutes, or until the skins are crispy and the insides are tender when pierced with a fork.

  7. Remove the potatoes from the oven and let them cool slightly for a few minutes.

  8. With a knife, make a lengthwise slit in the top of each potato, being careful not to cut all the way through.

  9. Use your hands to gently press the sides of the potato towards the center, fluffing up the insides and creating space for the toppings.

  10. Generously sprinkle shredded cheese into the opening of each potato.

  11. Place the cheese-topped potatoes back in the oven for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  12. Remove the potatoes from the oven, and if desired, add any optional toppings like sour cream, chopped green onions, or bacon bits.
