Spicy Korean Pasta is a Fusion Dish that Combines Elements of Korean and Italian cuisine. It typically features gochujang (Korean red chili paste) as the main spicy component, along with other ingredients to create a flavorful and unique pasta dish. Here's a basic recipe to get you started:

Ingredients:

  • 200g pasta (spaghetti, linguine, or your preferred type)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (such as bell peppers, carrots, and peas)
  • 1 cup cooked protein (chicken, shrimp, or tofu), optional
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Cook the pasta: Boil the pasta in a pot of salted water according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil to make the spicy sauce. Adjust the amount of gochujang based on your desired level of spiciness.

  3. Cook the vegetables and protein: In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.

  4. If using protein, add it to the skillet and cook until heated through or cooked to your preference.

  5. Add the mixed vegetables to the skillet and stir-fry for a few minutes until they are tender-crisp.

  6. Combine everything: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, then pour the spicy sauce over the pasta and vegetables. Use tongs or a spatula to toss everything together until the pasta is well coated in the sauce.

  7. Taste and adjust: Taste the pasta and adjust the seasoning if needed. You can add more gochujang, soy sauce, or sugar to balance the flavors according to your taste.

  8. Serve: Divide the spicy Korean pasta among serving plates. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

  9. Enjoy: Serve the dish immediately while it's still hot and enjoy the delicious fusion of Korean and Italian flavors.
